Self Tanning lotions

Health Beauty Care

Ok, everyone wants to have the tan look without the time involved and the risks of skin cancer. I would love to go to a tanning salon, but as a teenager I spent many hours in the sun baking away, so I’m bound to get some type of skin cancer. Now that I am older, I lather up with sun screen when I take the kids out. Yes, I’m whiter after a day of outside fun, than before the day started :-)

Anyhow, I have tried a few self tanning lotions, which are OK for the most part. I can’t really find a tanning lotion that doesn’t make you smell like a burnt French fry after a few hours of wearing the tanning lotion. Some of these self tanning lotions, leave you with brown knee caps, elbows, and ankles. The trick to not letting that happen is to apply a tiny amount of regular lotion to those areas after applying the self tanning lotion.

Now is the time that the stores are loading the shelves with all sorts of self tanning lotions, but which is right for you? Some companies provide “used for skin tones” on the bottle. So it’s pretty easy to pick the self tanning lotion that is right for you. The price is pretty reasonable too, compared to the regular dry skin lotions out there. I have tried Jergen’s, Alveno, Dove, and so far I like the Alveno self tanning lotion. Jergen’s tanning lotion has a really bad smell. Not at first but after a few hours of wear, the self tanning lotion smells like a chemical or a burnt french fry smell. Alveno’s self tanning lotion, smells good for the most part, it does have a little musty smell after a few hours of wear, but it’s not as strong as the Jergen’s self tanning lotion.

First time use, before applying the tanning lotion, you will need to ex foliate your dead/dry skin, and after your shower you will then apply the self tanning lotion. The bottle says use it ever day, but I put it on every other, so I don’t look “too fake”. I’m still skeptical of applying it to my face. Especially near the nose, if I can smell the self tanning lotion emitting from my legs, I can just imagine the odor if it’s right by nose.
